Eastern Art Arcade was formed in 1972 to directly import handicrafts from Africa. Initially we used to import only from East Africa but over the years have formed long standing relationships with local groups in most sub-Saharan African countries. We work directly with the local carvers, women's groups, and co-operatives and pay them a fair price for their products. We prepay 50% upfront for the goods, and in some instances up-to 75% so that our producers don't have to worry about how to fund purchases of raw materials.
We import the most varied range of products like African masks, Soapstone carvings, Abstracts, Wood carvings, Walking canes, oil paintings, religious abstracts like soapstone and wood nativity, candles, musical instruments and small gift items.
We also create custom products for clients based on their needs and requirements. All of our products are hand made using old world techniques passed on for generations and is a testament to our commitment in preserving a dying art form. Our co-operative of artists has carefully studied the art and craft of carving, woodworking and metallurgy. In some instances we also encourage, train and develop new products with the artisans to cater for the US market.
